Prudent Growth Cares Year in Review

One of our goals last year with PRUDENT GROWTH CARES was to build stronger, year-round relationships with our community partners. We aimed to go beyond just supporting large community events and instead provide ongoing support, especially when urgent needs arose throughout the year. While there’s more work ahead, we’re proud of the progress we made and feel confident that we’re headed in the right direction toward deeper partnerships and more meaningful, year-round impact.

Prudent Growth continued its support of major Durham Rescue Mission outreach events throughout the year, including Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We also remained a sponsor of the annual Grip It & Rip Golf Tournament in May. In addition, our team volunteered for multiple Back to School events: helping sort supplies at the warehouse and serving during the community event. PG once again donated toys & bikes for the Mission’s community Christmas celebration.

New ways we supported Durham Rescue Mission this year included attending regular DRM Ambassador Meetings to stay up to date on current and urgent needs and updates. As a result, we delivered multiple orders of diapers & wipes to the Women & Children’s Shelter throughout the year, as well as providing new children’s shoes for Back to School season. We also adopted four shelter residents for Christmas, fulfilling gift requests from their wishlists. In addition, our team organized a Coat Drive and has already delivered two large batches of warm clothing to the Mission, with more to come!

Prudent Growth was proud to once again support CC Spaulding Elementary School by donating backpacks, school supplies, and classroom materials for the Back to School season. Our team also volunteered at the school’s Real Men Read, one of our favorite events, where men volunteer to visit classrooms & read favorite children's books. 2025 marked our third consecutive year supporting both initiatives. In addition, for the second year, we provided goodies for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week and treats for students participating in after-school activities.

This year, we were especially excited to introduce new ways of supporting C.C. Spaulding. We attended Community Roundtable meetings at the school. In April, our team wrote notes of encouragement to 3rd-5th grade students ahead of their Benchmark exams. We enjoyed the experience so much that we followed up in May with handwritten thank-you notes for teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. We also contributed large boxes of clothing donations to support the school’s newly established clothing closet, helping to support students & families in need.

This year, we continued our support of Samaritan's Purse through hands-on service. Last year, our team supported Samaritan’s Purse emergency relief efforts following Hurricane Helene, with Prudent Growth employees contributing more than $5,000 in individual donations and the firm providing a $5,000 matching gift.

This past holiday season, our support continued as team members volunteered at the Operation Christmas Child processing center in Charlotte. Through Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan’s Purse delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world, sharing the hope and love of Christmas. Before these gifts can be shipped internationally, each shoebox is carefully inspected and prepared - work our team was proud to be part of in helping bring joy to children across the globe. (80K boxes were processed that day for children in Peru & Ecuador!)

We were first introduced to Project 658 through our own Parker Owen, who served as a soccer coach for the Street Soccer 658 ministry in Charlotte. The goal of Project 658 is to serve our refugee and immigrant neighbors. In the past, we have helped support their mission with financial support for their work, as well as by providing snacks for their children's after-school program.

This year, we continued that support: in June, PG team members attended An Evening with 658, an opportunity to connect with new leadership and learn more about the impact they are working to create for Charlotte. Near the end of the year, we were alerted of an urgent need and we responded by sending groceries from their wishlist to help feed local families.

For the fourth consecutive year, Prudent Growth volunteered with Servant's Hearta valued tenant at Lawyer’s Square, for Turkey Tuesday, helping distribute Thanksgiving meals to 160 families throughout the Mint Hill, NC area. We continued our financial support of Servant’s Heart’s mission to help individuals and families move toward financial stability by providing essential daily necessities.

PG also supported a tenant at Rolesville Town Center. Terri Simmons leads impactful community work through her Thorne to Rose Foundation, and for the second year, Prudent Growth was proud to sponsor the Foundation’s annual Back to School Community Event in Rolesville, NC.

Additionally, in partnership with tenants at Richland Plaza, Prudent Growth sponsored Halloween with the Horses, an event hosted by PALS, a nonprofit equine-assisted learning center serving the Bloomington, IN community.

As we reflect on the past year, we’re encouraged by the relationships we’ve strengthened and the new ways we’ve been able to support our community partners through PRUDENT GROWTH CARES. From hands-on volunteering to timely, needs-based support, each effort reinforced the value of showing up consistently and thoughtfully. While there is always more to do, we’re grateful for the progress made and remain committed to continue to deepen partnerships and create meaningful, lasting impact in the communities we serve.
